[REQUEST] Workflows seen in Actions UI separated by folder structure

Currently in the Actions UI it just lists all the workflows that are in the .github/workflows directory. This is manageable until you have too many unique workflows (30+) in one repository.

It would be amazing if I was able to group workflows based on some sort of file structure defined in the .github/workflows directory.
For example, having a folder structure like this:

│   │   ├── workflow_group_A
│   │   │   ├── workflow1.yml
│   │   │   ├── workflow2.yml
│   │   ├── workflow_group_B
│   │   │   ├── workflow3.yml
│   │   │   ├── workflow4.yml

look like the image below in the actions tab UI:

Thanks @keithlai124 - I agree that things start getting long when you have a lot of workflows. This is something that we'll improve, although I do not have a definite date for this.

and/or by environment as one of the primary needs is to clearly identify which workflows affect (for example) production.

Chiming in here, would like to see this as well. Or perhaps via grouping mechanism giving by workflow metadata in workflow files?

Yes. This feature will definitely help us to manage many workflows tied to single repository.

@ethomson any update on this one , we have 30 workflows for now , we just want to group it , and we can see the workflows getting added frequently, it's really nice to have this one otherwise the workflows folder would be clumsy. Thanks

we also have a need for this. on our enterprise github instance we have many workflows, it would be incredible to have some organization capabilities

Yes luckily I have come across this thread, I was trying my best to create folders only to realise they won't work.
We are heavily invested in GitHub Actions, and would like to see a solution to this urgently. We are moving away from Azure DevOps, and you could organise the Azure DevOps pipelines by folders which was great.

Managing 120 workflows in a single repo makes a hell of an entertainment.

I know I know - there's decoupling, git is not meant for big repositories. The thing is I have an old project which has all the automation and management tasks for CI environment 'migrated' to GitHub, previously being in Jenkins. No folder views, no search on the Actions page, at least a year passed and nothing changed and no timeline is given. Great!

Why on Earth should I carry this overhead for me and my team if Microsoft gives zero hugs about UX and overall GitHub UI usability? And this is not individual enthusiast repos - it's Enterprise for my employer and it makes my eyes bleed every time I need to find a workflow.

A bit cumbersome is that every time someone replies with +1 I get a notification.

What we really need is an AI that automatically filters out pointless replies that should have been an upvote, so people who are actually interested in following the state of an issue can do that while people who can't learn how to use Github can keep doing it "their way".

Wouldn't that be wonderful use of all the resources thrown at AI compute?

PS you can also simply never look at any of your notifications. Works for me!
