Considering SRT is content agnostic, I'd think it's an issue with Premiere sending the video, and not SRT itself. Is it able to stream RTMP (I have no experience with it)? EDIT: Ignore me, I didn't read the whole thing. |

That's what I believed until I started testing with other software / devices, like VLC in caller mode or a Magewell Pro Convert in Listener mode. What I do notice there is that even though the playback is normal, the bitrate does fluctuate wildly depending on the on-screen content. They don't offer any controls besides a "Low" to "Highest" quality setting. |

Hmm... Is this a problem with LLHLS playback not working well in Adobe Premiere's SRT output --> OME --> LLHLS configuration? At a glance, Premiere seems to encode with variable bitrate and variable frame rate. Is that right? Then that doesn't really fit with HLS. In this case, there is a possibility that encoding in OME will be better than transcoding bypass. Alternatively, playing with WebRTC is also a good idea. If I misunderstood, please provide a little more detail. |

Thanks @getroot, sorry I didn't specify the playback method - the behavior above was observed with WebRTC - you see the stream start, play about 15 frames, then sloooooow down to one frame every few seconds, if even that. LLHLS does not begin playback, I would guess because the frames are being played back so slowly, that it takes ages to get to a keyframe. |

Well, it looks like I might have to look at the SRT (MPEG-2 TS) packets that Premiere outputs. I'll make time for this after NAB! |

Just updating this thread to confirm that the latest releases of Adobe Premiere (Release 24.4.1 and Beta 24.6) still exhibit the same issue when streaming SRT to OME. However, SRT to a hardware decoder or VLC listener works OK. I know you are very busy but compatibility with Adobe would be a huge upgrade to OME if you have time to look at the issue 🙏 |

Adobe has officially released SRT streaming output for Adobe Premiere. This is a major feature because it will bring SRT to millions of people that don't know anything about streaming. Unfortunately it does not seem to work well with OME.
There is some kind of issue where the frame and bitrate is either miscalculated or does not negotiate correctly - playback grinds to a halt and OME reports fractional frame rates with impossible bitrates.
I've been trying this in beta over the last year and always figured "Adobe messed up their SRT implementation" which may be true, however I can't reproduce the playback error with any other SRT device. For example, a Magewell Pro Convert plays back the same SRT stream in caller mode perfectly, and changing Adobe to listener mode allows for caller playback in VLC/OBS with no problems either.
So I wonder if you can see any clues in the log file below - the incoming frame rate and bit rate cannot possibly be accurate since I see high quality streams running to other devices - unless it indicates some kind of negotiation issue. Any support I can get on this would be greatly appreciated as customers are starting to ask about Adobe SRT 🙏
