Best practice on how to pass data to an event to schedule a follow up job?

Hello, I am running a jobs system where once job 1 completes it schedules job 2, however, instead of scheduling job 2 at the end of job 1, I'd rather schedule job 2 inside of the job 1 success event. If job 2 is dependent on data from job 1, is there a best practice on how to pass that data to the success event? or is using a database the recommended way to 'pass' the data?
