Orange does not launch #6693
Comments
For a start, you will need to give us more information -- "Orange does not start" is not something that we can debug. :) You skipped the bottom part of the form. |
Apologies. This is new to me. What's wrong? How can we reproduce the problem? What's your environment? Operating system: Windows 10 22H2 |
Thank you for the quick response. I have updated the form with the following:
Apologies. This is new to me.
What's wrong?
Orange does not launch. Double-click the icon or try to run pythonw.exe -s -m orange.canvas from a command line...nothing. No error messages.
How can we reproduce the problem?
Not sure.
Are there logs I can view?
Are there dependencies other than python?
What's your environment?
Education. I am the systems administrator trying to make Orange available to professors and students. We are implementing this in VMware VDI.
Operating system: Windows 10 22H2
Orange version: 3.36.1
How you installed Orange: Ran the installer as administrator for all users.
Thank you!

Use Note: There is a Orange Debug shortcut in the installation directory which should keep the console window open. |
Thank you for the tip, here’s the error:
***@***.***
Where does that module install to? Is it profile specific?
Thank you!

Orange does not launch. Double-click the icon or try to run pythonw.exe -s -m orange.canvas from a command
Use python.exe -s -m Orange.canvas (pythonw.exe on windows specifically detaches from the console and won't print any errors)

@pbastiaans, Github seemed to have a problem understanding your email. Please repost the error onto Github directly. Thanks! |
Thanks! Please use the command as Ales specified, with capital O in "Orange" (capital letters are important within python). |
... and you'll need to run the commant in "Orange Command Prompt" (should be in your start menu), because the default system one does not load the same python environment. |
Orange does not launch.
Orange has been added to a VMware App Volume it does not launch, no error, nothing.
Any suggestions for troubleshooting?
