I faced with the same issue while upgrading helm chart of cert-manager from v0.1 to v1.8 delete all the old crd's steps I followed after deleting old crd's

Not working for unclear reason to me:
# Helm v3+ helm install \ cert-manager jetstack/cert-manager \ --namespace cert-manager \ --version v1.1.0 \ --set installCRDs=true
