Failed to complete chroot setup

It says "can't read common/cras_messages.h" no such file or directory. Please help

You have to install using the silence branch:

sudo CROUTON_BRANCH=silence crouton -r xenial -t xfce

The silence branch prevents the attempt to install cras, which cannot be installed without the 3rd-party tool "autotools", which has been removed.

Had the same issue when running sudo crouton -t xfce -r jammy, running again with CROUTON_BRANCH=silence solved the problem for me. Thanks

Same happens for me. Crouton silence works but I kinda want it to have audio.
