It seems that Stretch is the version supported (which met his end of life at 1-7-20022).
Indeed, if you add it, it offers v.2.4.
PS. Building hstr locally, always works perfect.

I'm using Debian Sid (aka unstable) — package seems to have latest release:
$ hstr --version hstr version "2.6.0" (2022-12-11T22:00:00)
Please clarify what the problem is? Did you want hstr backported?
(I came here to report bugs, since Debian Sid shows none.)

Confirming I also get 2.6.0 on Debian Sid.
