Maybe it is possible, but how would you tell the ESP32 to switch on/off the smart plug? I you want to use an M5 device as some sort of remote control, so using buttons on that M5, which then uses WiFi to the plug to pilot it, then it sounds doable, but I would probably go for an Arduino sketch instead. If I were to setup an M5 as a remote, I would connect the plug and the M5 to Home Assistant and use ESPHome as the firmware for the M5. What is possible and what not depends a lot on your exact use case here, so these were mainly a few loose pointers that popped up when I read your question. Maybe these already help. |

Sorry my first message was not really clear.
M5 core is an esp32. So I would like to install home assistant on it. Then
connect the smartplug to it with WiFi AP

The WiFi connection would already be taken by the connection to the plug,
if I understand you correctly.

Hi, I just discovered the amazing tool you made! ESPHome is a really smart project.
As I understand, ESPHome can be installed on a smartplug. But my need is a little different.
Is it possible to pilot smartplugs (ie TPlink HS100 or others) from an ESPHome installed on external ESP32 (like a M5core for example) ?
If yes is it possible without router using AP-STA to connect directly the smarplug to the ESPHome with wifi?
It could be a nice solution to never have to plug a relay on GPIO again.
