I would like to use this device as sort of a motion detector, but for that to work, I need to know when ESPHome/HA will be updated. From the documentation: broadcasts motion detection (detected/clear, on/off), it appears like an event is sent when motion is detected. But then I saw this in a pull request for this sensor:
For my understanding, the nightlight sends a motion detected signal once activated by a person walking by. Every so often the status is broadcasted via BLE. The motion detected state is pushed to HA if the motion has been detected for longer than the specified timeout period, otherwise a no motion detected signal will be sent. Source
This to me is very confusing. The first sentence makes it look like a signal is sent immediately once a person is detected. Then he talks about checking status periodically, then he talks about sending the state to HA only after motion has been detected for a certain amount of time. These three things seem to all contradict each other, so I'm simply lost.
I simply want to know one thing: When this device detects motion, does it immediately send a signal that it has detected motion, or not?
Also, in case somebody happens to know this, what kind of delay can I expect between detecting the motion, and this detection showing up in Home Assistant?
