AC Dimmer platform for variance or power to hot water boiler resistance

Hi all, can the ac_dimmer platform be used to control the exact power is sent to a hot water boiler resistance (instead of percentage for light) ? The resistance is 3000w would I need to calculate the percentage needed to raise or lower for ex. 100w or is there a better way of doing this using some slider with power from 0 to 3000w ?

There were changes made to the component a while back to make it more linear for power, so that should be good. If you're using a light control for it, you'll need to disable the gamma correct by setting it to 1.

@ssieb I would like to set directly the power instead of setting percentage to a "light" is there a way to do it like this ? What other component would I use instead ? Do you have any yaml example ? Thanks.

I don't understand what you mean. What are you doing now that doesn't work?

@ssieb Goal is to control the power output (0-3000w) going to the hot water boiler resistance based on several factors: solar production, house battery charging or not, house current power consumption ... etc. Trying to use as much power from my solar as possible but, priority is house consumption and battery charging, the rest goes to the resistance. I will analyze the power to be sent to the resistance at 1s.
I guess I could transform the power to percentage and just use the light, but wandering if there is another way to just input the power (either in W or A as voltage is consistent 230v from inverter) to be sent to the resistance.

The dimmer is an output, so it takes a float value from 0-1. Anything else is just a visual thing. If you want, you could use a template number that goes from 0-3000 to set the output level. Just divide the value by 3000.
