In the current version sort_lat doesn't do anything:

_latitudes.sortby(_latitudes, ascending=False) doesn't actually sort the array but just leaves it as is.

I an hesitant to fix it because it will mess up all the lat_start and lat_ens indices of ln.load_data.
My suggestion is to just remove this function from the code
