I feel that this here in Bash should multiply the "x" column by 100:

mlr -c --from <( echo $'x,y,z\n1,2,3\n4,5,6' ) put -f <( echo '$x *= 100' )

Debug info:

mlr -c --from <( echo $'x,y,z\n1,2,3\n4,5,6' ) put -E -f <( echo '$x *= 100' )
DSL EXPRESSION:

x,y,z
1,2,3
4,5,6
mlr -c --from <( echo $'x,y,z\n1,2,3\n4,5,6' ) put -E '$x *= 100'
DSL EXPRESSION:
$x *= 100

x,y,z
100,2,3
400,5,6
