Investigate multiscale approaches again

When initially experimenting with smartcrop.js I went straight to multiscale approaches (wavelets & laplacian pyramids). In the end I went with the simplest thing that could possibly work.
With that said the original multi scale approaches would probably work better if tuned properly so this might be worth investigating.
