Hello folks again! I haven't seen any replies to this sadly. We will start offering targeted pull requests for improving the accessibility of Recharts and look forward to the discussions we will have to improve this together :) |

Hello folks!
We are interested in contributing improvement to the API and Docs of Recharts to help developers create more accessible charts.
The Contributing.md is details how to file issues and submit pull requests, but it doesn't cover the community process on adding new API. Do we still use the Issues process for this? We want to have the correct conversations on what is expected from the Recharts project both on the developer and the consumer side.
Same goes for Docs. Some improvements could be guidance additions in the documentation. That's hosted on a different repository, yet we likely should have the discussion in a single repository until a conclusion is reached that it's a doc change only. What do you think?
As for ideas we have, there are lots of aspects to cover. Initial code contributions would be toward improving keyboard navigation of the chart content. Then adding screen reader specific fixes. Some targeted additions could go a long way in improving accessibility for these two areas. Meanwhile, creating documentation specific to accessibility topics would help developers that are looking for it, and we are ready to propose some of these as well.
Looking forward to your reply on how we can contribute and make this happen!
