While upgrading a cluster, stopping master caused a reelection, which caused 2-3 sec of unavailability (due to master unavailability being detected in that time afaiu).
This is perfectly OK since clients should be (and generally are) clever enough to retry and compensate, but still wanted to ask: Is it possible to manually trigger a re-election? Or rather, would it even make sense solving my (imaginary) issue by promoting another master by hinting the incoming unavailability, assuming most of the time of unavailability is not the election and resulting takeover but marking the current master as unavailable?

Hi 👋
While upgrading a cluster, stopping master caused a reelection, which caused 2-3 sec of unavailability (due to master unavailability being detected in that time afaiu).
This is perfectly OK since clients should be (and generally are) clever enough to retry and compensate, but still wanted to ask: Is it possible to manually trigger a re-election? Or rather, would it even make sense solving my (imaginary) issue by promoting another master by hinting the incoming unavailability, assuming most of the time of unavailability is not the election and resulting takeover but marking the current master as unavailable?
Thanks!
