Is it possible to receive data via MQTT /io broker?

Hallo,

Is it possible to receive data via MQTT /io broker?

Which data would be interesting:

• Date / Time
• Coordinates
• Device address from which was sent. For example 54:be:d3:7e:cc:61
• Battery status of the ESP32

The report contains everything except the battery condition.
The transfer to MQTT or any other IoT-messaging provider is easy to do with a python script.

Unfortunately I couldn't write something like that myself.

That is awesome, many people are using workarounds, like Owntracks. Would be great, when Homeassistent and others would support it native over mqtt discovery or something.

But should be usefull if compatible with Biemster/Findmy or dchrist/headless-haystack. This Repo is way to old.

I have a fork from Biemster/Findmy which allows user to have response by calling a gateway API, and I have also setup a website for testing purpose so people don't have to worry about setup the environment at the early stage of testing.

To understand the request, I have looked at the Owntracks concept on #195, it seems already integrated with Biemster/Findmy previously but somehow the "findmy_proxy.py" is no longer available.

In my understanding, the expectation is to have a MQTT Publisher? Periodically get the location information from Apple, then send it to a given MQTT broker?

A more detailed description about the expectation and how could I help would be appreciated.

Hey, https://github.com/mrmay-dev/owntags just runs beside of the other projects and is not very stable. For me, changes are not getting pushed to every tracker at every time. So its not that stable as it should be.
A very helpful alternative would be, that an integrated mqtt publisher is presenting an Tracker to Homeassistent via the mqtt discovery protocoll.
