Products showing in Taxonomy

I have products showing in taxonomies that shouldn't. When i check display order for the taxonomy, it says none, yet when i browse they appear. For example...

• Prod -> Shortie -> Soda Bottle 20

I put products into Soda Bottle 20 yet they appear in Shorties and Shorties -> Soda Bottle 20, duplicates. I have two different sized Soda Bottles and I don't want them all bunched together above the category discriminators.

Have I done something wrong?

I see the stock app works the same way...hmm. I guess that settles it, it's working as designed.
