Hello! 🙃 I'm Maria. I call myself a civic techie, Astro PhD, open science architect, and inclusive AI advocate.
I was born and raised in Cleveland and have since bounced around from there to Chicago -> Las Cruces, NM -> Bloomington, IN -> back to Chicago (Go Cubs!) -> Seattle -> Indianapolis.
I currently live in Indianapolis, IN, where I moved to take a job building machine learning pipelines and data platforms for a number of SaaS startups. I now work in civic tech on practical tools for testing and mitigating AI bias.
On the side, I am working on building up reproducible, Docker-based tutorials on modern data processing and machine learning tools to help others learn by example. If you find any of it useful, I'd be happy for contributions to my Saturday morning fancy porch coffee fund.
