We believe that vCon is the future of communications data management and operations. Whether your communications system(s) use SMS, email, web chat, messaging, phone calls, video calls or any combinations of those modes. vCon can organize your data into a standard for exchange between systems. This avoids typical costly, custom integration for every service or feature which operates on conversation data. Using vCon you can easily add transcription, translation, sentiment analysis, generative AI solutions to summarize, write up notes, list action items and more for your calls. This keeps your conversation metadata (who, what, when where, why, how), the actual conversation media (text, audio, video), ancillary documents and analysis all in one nice neat container. On top of that it provide data integrity checking, and privacy through redaction and/or encryption.

The py-vcon project is focused on developing the vCon as an IETF standard and getting it widely adopted by industry. This involved developing, prototyping, testing, researching the vCon concept to provide input to the IETF vCon Working Group. It also involves evangelizing and making it easy for the communications industry to adopt and use vCon in their products. We aim to do this with a 3 tiered approach of providing:

• CLI based programs that allow the piping of vCon data into various operators
• A python based library for doing operations on vCon data
• A RESTful server for managing, operating on and storing vCon data
