Hey, I have the following issue, here are the steps to reproduce.

  1. Open https://summernote.org in Safari on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad).
  2. Type some text and select some word from it.
  3. Try to change the font size of the selected word (generally, try to activate any option from the top toolbar that opens a drop-down menu).

RESULT: The selection is lost.

  1. Operating System:
    [x] Apple

  2. Browser and Version:
    [x] Safari

Seems it's similar to this issue (or the same).

Any news on this?

I don't use Apple or Safari, so I can't test your issue. I'm guessing that the other Devs who can test are busy.

Hi @diemendesign, hoping to follow up on this too! 🙏

As I already mentioned, I can't test this, or supply a solution as I don't, and refuse to own Apple devices. I'm hoping one of the other developers get the time to look into this, but if it goes past 14-30 days without further interaction towards resolution than the issue may get closed. However, if someone works out a solution even if the issue is closed, and creates a PR, we can look into merging it after it's tested.

on an iphone i am seeing the selection vanish. but choosing the size still works if i tap it twice. on ipad pro, the blue highlight of the text selection is actually appearing above the dropdowns which is pretty interesting, blocking touching of them.

Adding to the list of users affected. I too am on an iPad pro seeing the issue. I saw that there is a cmd+num# command to change the headings (which is what I was attempting) but unfortunately that conflicts with the ipad’s built-in change tab command.

So far the only way I’ve been able to format on iPad is to use the code editor and change the tags, which isn’t the most convenient, but at least allows for it to be changed.

Has anyone managed to do a work around or implement a fix for this? Does it even occur anymore?
This issue is at risk of being closed if no further interaction occurs. I'll give this another week (8th July 2023).

the selection still vanishes when selecting a dropdown but it comes back after now. it still suffers from general usability issues though. like the colour dialog spawning 2/3 off screen.

The colour dropdown positioning, is a separate issue, if you require help with that please check if there is another issue already open for that, or create a new issue, thanks.
I don't use Apple devices, so I am unable to even try to duplicate the selection issue. Hopefully, someone else can.

I can confirm it is still occurring on iPad OS (M1 iPad Pro). On my iPhone (iPhone 13) I do not experience the issue.

However on iPad when attempting to change the header size it will only change for the first line. Regardless of if you select text prior to change or what line you may be on.

Are the browsers on each device the same version? I ask, as I'm aware that there has been a lot of updates to Safari (I assume that's what you're using).

I have been using Safari. I believe they are the same version, but might render differently based on the size of the screen. I did notice my iPad was not on 16.5.1, so I updated it.

It does seem to work on iPad now, however you have to select the text by touch. If you select the text using your keyboard/mouse (I'm using the magic keyboard) it does not work. I'm not sure why Apple treats these two as a different functionality. However, the fact that I can change font/headings on iPad now is a huge convenience.

Goodo, at least that's a step forward.

Chasing this issue up. Is the selection visibility still an issue? I was just wondering if this could also be a styling issue, and if there's possibly a hack to at least stop the visibility of the selection from disappearing, or as it seems from the comments above, changing colour, and the perhaps, such as we devs have to do years ago for Internet Exploder add some extra styling to cater for anomalies? I'd just like to see this issue resolved after such a long period.
