Today, my instance's TLS certificate expired. This manifested in Tusky as a generic "A network error occurred. Please check your network connection and try again."
This is not good guidance for all situations. Please consider including failure details in/with/after these messages to aid in diagnostics. Additionally, there are many conditions where retrying is not helpful guidance - an expired certificate is one of these because it requires intervention to resolve.
(I did not realize the certificate expired until I attempted to use toot, which exposed the OpenSSL error to my attention.)
