Describe the issue
fwupdmgr can't install dbx UEFI security updates on Linux guest.

Shows an error: failed to write data to efivarfs: Error writing to file descriptor: Invalid argument

I have a Debian Trixie installed as guest on a M1 hardware.

Could be a problem with efivars size. Found related thread on Fedora forums: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/f38-secure-boot-dbx-configuration-update-190-217-fails-w-invalid-argument/

Configuration

  • UTM Version: 4.5.2
  • macOS Version: 14.4.1
  • Mac Chip (Intel, M1, ...): M1

Crash log
No crashes
