_join query with @internal directive yields error

As I'm having a requirement to implement Cross API Joins for the response, We want to implement _join query on multiple operations to get the data from different services.

But while I'm exporting the value of oid to variable soid as the JOIN key, the _join query is throwing an error.

Below is the query I'm executing.

  zone: test_getZoneList(soids: $soids, site: $site) {
    site
    oid @export(as: "soid")
    zone_type
    _join {
      objects(id: $soid) {
        name
      }

}
