caching policy makes working with large repos really difficult

Currently, I have a medium sized repository with around 1TB of data in it.

In this repo, switching between branches is very problematic because of the current caching policies, only a very small percentage of the data is cached locally, meaning that everything has to be re-downloaded every time when switching branches.

It would be great to configure the repository caching policies to avoid this situation.
