You can use any vanilla type of wood, and you'll get different frames depending on what type of wood was used.

Using golden nugget in craft will add a special visible nameplate to the frame, and any player will be able to know the picture's name and author by right-clicking it.

Special frames

This frame doesn't have thick bezels around your painting, so you can put several of those one next to another o create a huge painting, more than 4x4 or just get rid of bezels. It's 1px thick, as vanilla painting is.

This is golden frame, which is much thicker than others and luxury look. It has inlaid emeralds which are required for crafting. Doesn't have a nameplate by default, see below;

Adds a nameplate to the golden frame

Painting:

• While holding canvas in main hand, press right click on easel to put canvas on easel;
• Put your palette anywhere in hotbar slots;
• Right-click the easel with your canvas;
• Move your palette from hotbar to the palette slot;

• Start drawing! You can use one palette on multiple canvases in order to keep your colors consistent; or you can use multiple palettes if 14 colors is not enough for you;
• Shift + right click to grab canvas from easel when you're done.

Create painting by signing and optionally combining canvases:

In the on the left edge, you can place your canvases and preview combined picture, that will appear next to it right when loaded.

Below the canvas combination grid you can see a text field, which can be used to give your painting a name.

When you're done with setting up your painting, grab your painting from the slot next to it!

Framing an image to use on walls:

Just combine painting and frame together to get a framed painting.

In case you don't like the frame anymore, or just changed the look of your pretty interior, you can always take painting back from frame by placing it in inventory grid. Don't worry, frame is not lost!

Interaction:

Right click framed painting on wall to put painting on it.

If the frame is decorated with golden nameplate, right click on framed painting to see the name and the author.
