How to ask for help

pH7CMS was written mostly (99.9%) by Pierre-Henri Soria. All support is provided on a volunteer basis. So please be cooperative and help us to help you. Here's what you can do :

• Search if someone already had the same problem as you. If so, there's a good chance you already have access to the answer of your question / issue.
• Look up in the documentation. Documentation (aka RTFM)
• Be as descriptive as possible. There's many different configurations possible and those will influence the use of the CMS. So give OS, Web Server version and type, PHP version, hosting provider, pH7CMS version.
• Give us a list of what you did before asking for help. It gives us a chance to evaluate your technical skills and adapt our answer.
• Include error and system logs in your question, it gives us critical debug information needed to help you solve your problem.
• Try upgrading to the latest version. What your experiencing may have been fixed in the last version released.
• Don't think that because it didn't work straight out the box for you its proof we have a problem with the software.
• Don't write many problems in one issue.
• Don't open multiple issues at the same time.
• We support pH7CMS, we are not the technical support for the full stack of application (Apache, Unix, MySQL, PHP, etc).
• We can give some quick tips about the whereabouts of a specific UI item. But it's not upon us to explain basic development practices that you should already know.
• By nature CMS software requires some computer knowledge to install and maintain. Be aware of this in the context of your request.
• If your question is specific to this software then you are in the right place. Otherwise you'd be better off going to the related website (Apache / Linux distribution / Nginx / Php / etc).

You can take a screen recording of the issue you are reporting using CamStudio or Camtasia studio. It can be downloaded in a portable version (no installation needed) at CamStudio.

On Mac, you can use ScreenFlow, or just with the default QuickTime Player software => https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208721

On Windows you can also use the printscreen key and paste the result into paint, then save the file or press the Windows key then s to use the snipping tool.

On Linux an application called "Take Screenshot" is included in most distributions and located under the Applications menu under Accessories..

The more information you give the more likely you are of getting accurate helpful advice to help you solve your problem. A simple screenshot can provide us an image that says a thousand words.
